Titanic photo essay

I found a book called Titanic: Legacy of the World's greatest ocean liner. It has a "Discover Channel" logo on the front. The pictures at the beginning of the book make a cool photo essay.

Blogging the Titanic

I'm on a bit of a Titanic kick this year, the 100th anniversary of the Titanic sinking.

I'm no Titanic expert, but in the past couple of months I've been drawn to books, movies, images, maps, websites--all about the Titanic. It's clear I'm not the only one fascinated by the story.

Ever since the disaster, people have been writing and painting, creating movies and songs, establishing organizations and putting up statues--all in response to the Titanic.

In this blog, I'll spend the next month sorting out some of the the stories and images that have arisen in the wake of this disaster. As I do, I'll try to figure out why the Titanic disaster has the power to both horrify and fascinate.
